Le Gigot

18 Cornelia St New York, NY 10014

I guess we’re suckers for classic reverence, but Le Gigot is a timeless gem in a part of town that we also classify as a timeless gem. The food is severely French, bistro to the bone. Bouillabaisse that’s dramatic and memorable, Boeuf Bourguignon arrives exactly as it should: juicy, and glossy with sauce, refusing to be background noise. The roast chicken tastes like it’s been cooked a thousand times and perfected every one of them, crisp skin, juicy flesh, jus that deserves to be mopped up with bread without shame.

Desserts are classic and comforting. A crème brûlée cracks cleanly under the spoon. A tarte tastes like someone still believes dessert should end the meal gently, not upstage it. Cold night in town, wish you were in Paris for a warming meal? This is the place.
